Nurse-midwifery care is woman-centered and based on the philosophy that health care should be safe and satisfying. CNMs make every effort to respect the human dignity and cultural diversity of their clients.
- The name "mid-wife" means "with women". Midwives throughout time have brought comfort, support and expertise to the health care of women
- Nurse-Midwives are recognized around the world as specialists in caring for the unique, normal needs of women throughout childbearing and beyond. Whether it is for family planning, pregnancy and birth, yearly exams, or sensitive care during the menopausal years, every woman deserves a midwife.
- Nurse-Midwives focus on prevention & education, whether it is during pregnancy and birth, or during menopause.
- The functions of a woman's body, such as pregnancy, labor, and birth, are viewed & supported as a normal process, not a medical dis-ease.
- The focus is on compassionate, family-centered care.
- Nurse-midwives encourage you to be involved in decision-making, giving you a sense of pride and partnership in your health. They recognize YOU as the owner of your own body, and listen carefully to what you are experiencing.
- Nurse-midwives are careful to use technology & interventions as they are needed. They often can suggest more natural alternatives to medical interventions. We believe this partially explains their success in reducing C-sections and helping many women successfully give birth.
- Your Nurse-Midwife strives to be a nurturing and supportive presence throughout pregnancy and during labor. Rather than arriving just before the moment of birth, your Nurse-Midwife will do her best to be with you during the hard work of labor.
Vision Health is a very personal and individual experience. Choosing a path to health that focuses on all our human aspects, physical, emotional, sexual, and spiritual allows us to be "fully" healthy. When one part of our being is out of sync, we get dis "ease" Women, in particular, are especially in tune to health care meeting all their needs, not just the physical. They seek care that strikes a balance with their need for "holistic" health.
You have a choice
Finding someone to partner with you in your pursuit of optimum health is much like choosing your friends, life partners or your career. Making choices that allow us to feel nurtured, and that foster growth and healing serve to enhance our wellness.

My mission in providing women's health care is to partner with women on their life journey. That journey can include many facets of a woman's health. From childbirth to menopause and all the transitions in between, the model of care of nurse-midwives is a quality of caring that is clinically excellent but does so in a way that is sensitive and empathetic to your individual health needs.
Ask yourself the following questions
- Do you want someone who will listen to you, not just your questions, but also your weird dreams, your hopes and fears?
- Do you want someone who will be your advocate when it comes to doing things your way?
- Do you want a partner in your physical, emotional, sexual, and spiritual health, who encourages you to take responsibility for your health and empowers you through childbirth and beyond?
- Do you want someone who would use all the tools available to help me give birth, not just the high tech ones?
- Do you want a woman who has traveled these paths herself and can be empathetic and supportive of your health goals?
If it is your wish to find a women health care provider whose purpose is to inspire and advocate the use of models of healing that will contribute to your wellness Then consider your options and consider a nurse midwife.
